Garden of life

Ode to Phyllis: Happy are they who live and die enjoying what they love

And here the precious dust is layd;
Whose purely temper’d Clay was made
So fine, that it the guest betray’d.

Else the soule grew so fast within,
It broke the outward shell of sinne,
And so was hatch’d a Cherubin.

garden of life 300x155 Garden of lifeMany of you may know that I recently moved, but maybe not that I’m living in the same neighborhood or that I’ve been here for the last 12 years. I’d gotten to know a few of my neighbors who were more settled than the mostly transient population of our village. Of those I knew by name, I’ve admired Phyllis a great deal.

Phyllis had created a fairy kingdom of a home, a loving project that spanned a half century or so. Her cottage looks like something from the English countryside. She tended a rare and unique moss in her yard. Her graceful trees sheltered choruses of birds making nests and heralding the passing hours, night and day. Her roof was thatch shingled, and I often swore I’d just seen Read More »

Secret ingredient to the great recipe of life

Thought for the day:

However much advice you may get along the way, there is one secret ingredient to the great recipe of life. And that secret ingredient is …you.

Healing meditation as spiritual healing treatment

Madonna and Child detail.large

Music heals – sound heals; this has been well documented. Recent studies have been done in Post Operative Care Units during patent’s early postoperative care. Fascinating footage exists on the the beautiful patterns some sound makes on sand and on water. Healers have long used song or bells, or even Tibetan singing bowls. I often turn to exotic sound and chant to enter deep healing meditation, or to classical music especially in preparation for healing sessions.

Finding meaning in your purpose for life

Truly liking others means having unconditional regard for them. The good news is that even if you feel others are difficult to like–and can produce evidence to prove it–you can develop the skill set that looks beyond appearances and into the heart. You may even know people who do this naturally. What is their secret?

Music heals the soul

music heals 152x185 Music heals the soulRhema Marvanne Voraritskul sings gospel to glorify God. What’s so special about that in the world of gospel singers?

Plenty.

First of all, there’s Rhema herself. She’s seven years old and her music has the potential to touch the soul deeply. Sometimes angels in embodiment have come simply to remind us how to let go, and let their sound heal us.

Watch and listen to Rhema sing Amazing Grace (a chipelo) and prepare to open your heart Read More »

Elementally healing human conflict

Elementally healing human conflictThis is the season for reflecting on what matters most, and so I naturally think of our connections. Although we may have met only through this blog or by phone, I feel we have already met in person. And can it also be that we have deeper connections, that we have also met in a more elemental way?

At some level of consciousness, we meet inside the spiritual concepts we share. These can include ideas on how to take responsibility for shaping our individual worlds, and how our personal decisions effect the planet we share. Or anything that matters right now.

Because we really are spiritually related, we can exchange greetings and love by just our thoughts and feelings. We also show Read More »

Arguing with emotional poltergeists

‘Tis the season to be jolly

Arguing with emotional poltergeistsThe holidays are a time of warm feelings, family get togethers. A time to reunify loving relationships.

They can also be a challenge.

People who are normally not prone to throwing energy tantrums can find themselves doing so. They may feel overwhelmed with feeling ‘not enough’ — not enough time to finish the shopping, write the cards, plan the meals, prepare for travel or visitors.

Crowded roadways, long lines and frenzied shopping can lead to emotional outbursts. Road rage can take over a person like entity possession, and Read More »

Who Heals the Ocean?

“Our world bank is blue”

Continuing in this series on Who Heals the Earth, I want to do more than ‘think blue’. I’m going to confess my weakness: failing to do all I can to preserve the lifeblood of our life support system.

How many times have I mindlessly walked by a piece of trash dropped on the street near the drain? Or, other times, thought to excuse myself since I had no disposable glove or bag to pick it up with?

Another unconscionable ‘for instance’: though I’ve been aware of the need to ‘think blue’ and even made personal changes in how I use water, at the same time I somehow made it ‘okay’ (in my reasoning mind) about eating sushi. Until today.

Today I’m paying more attention to what oceanographer Sylvia Earle has been teaching for a long time. Her citing of Read More »

Who Heals the Earth?

Can we truly heal Mother Earth?

For years I have been working with meditation and prayer partners, or leading telemeditations for collective earth energy-healing work. I was a vegan for many years until severe anemia caused me to modify my diet.

And I continue to listen to what others are saying about our planet with an open mind.

But last week a friend from Germany sent me a link to a trailer of the Earthlings Documentary that did more than open my mind. (The footage I’ve linked to was the least shocking I could find.)

For several days I stopped eating all but a few greens, then I just stopped eating meat. I’m still working on how far to go, to embrace authentic vegan living.

I also struggle with how to deal with my existing wardrobe and household sundries, with it’s Read More »

Breakthrough science of healing?

Alternative Medicine (Wikipedia)

Alternative Medicine (Wikipedia)

If you are among those who have received alternative healing treatments, you know about some of  the undeniable benefits of integrating these modalities into conventional health care.

But what about the science of information itself as medicine? And what are the supposed miracle cures that science can’t explain?

While there is no magic bullet for getting well and staying well, you can use information as medicine to enhance your treatment program, whether it be traditional, alternative or integrated.

Because healing is a two-way street. While you expect that your healer is informed, you can and probably should also take a larger part in your healing process. The more you know about getting well and staying well, the more pointed Read More »
