Or Does the ego provide the test?
I love this diagram of Freud’s psyche theory (courtesy of Wikipedia). Although the ego (when used to describe the negative part of our psyche) can seem to play a large role in our lives when out of control, it is really only a small part of who we are (or surmise we are).
Sometimes I receive phone calls from people concerned about their experience with a teacher who appears to be lost in the ego. Each situation of course is unique, and each individual is responsible for taking care that they are not permitting another to abuse them, whether that other be a revered teacher or not.
Haven’t we all faced the decision whether to sacrifice a teaching or spiritual experience just because the teacher appears to have fallen from a pedestal? It’s how you respond to any circumstance, no matter how provocative, that can show you where you may need to shore up your inner reserves or make stronger connections with your inner teacher.
Your true teacher can safely Continue…

Paul Gauguin – Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going? – 1897
What’s really important to you?
“What’s really important in life? Sitting on a beach? Looking at television eight hours a day? I think we have to appreciate that we’re alive for only a limited period of time, and we’ll spend most of our lives working.
That being the case, I believe one of the most important priorities is to do whatever we do as well as we can. We should take pride in that.”
~Victor Kiam
Whenever you hear the term ‘life purpose‘, what comes to mind? Note any juxtaposition of thought and feeling that may come up. Maybe you feel you are not doing something grand enough to qualify for a life purpose.
What is more grand than Continue…

“Music is the balm that heals the forlorn ache of a distant star.”~Don Williams, Jr.
Music heals – sound heals; this has been well documented. Recent studies have been done in Post Operative Care Units during patent’s early postoperative care. Fascinating footage exists on the the beautiful patterns some sound makes on sand and on water.
Healers have long used song or bells, or even Tibetan singing bowls. I often turn to exotic sound and chant to enter deep healing meditation, or to classical music especially in preparation for healing sessions.
What are your favorite pieces of music to heal or soothe? I’d love to know if you’ve found a favorite multimedia presentation that incorporates the best of imagery and sound to heal.
One of my favorite pieces of classical music is by Franz Schubert, Ave Maria. In this Continue…

Picture this: you’re feeling in touch with what’s in your heart and on your mind. You truly feel yourself to be walking down the path you’re on, respectfully and honorably ‘joining hands’ with those alongside you. But what if something in your experience changes, and you feel blocked to having this kind of abundance and joy, or to finding real meaning in your purpose for life?
First, be careful not to assume that you have to immediately make outer changes. Examine the truth that there’s really no prescribed or ‘best’ path to follow in life. You can determine to find your joy where you are now. Making any changes from this habit of mind helps you choose wisely.
The secret to personal success on all levels and the key to having it, right now, is first to find the Continue…

Since the theme for the New Year at Who Heals is ‘appreciation’, I can’t resist posting this YouTube video. It’s created by Harold W. Becker of The Love Foundation and is filled with positive messages and feelings of appreciation and love.
I like what he says, my favorite quote from this video slide show being “Life is simple when we come from our heart with boundless appreciation for Life itself.”
Appreciate and Continue…

Breathing appreciation changes energy
In my last article I recommended taking note of how the use of the word appreciation can change your energy.
After you apply some of the techniques I provided, you may immediately notice changes in your personal power as you gently wrap your energy around the word ‘appreciation’. If at any time you are not feeling quite the same sweetness you did when you first explored the sensation of appreciation, stop Continue…

Reason for choosing appreciation
You might notice in my articles, and in your sessions with me, that I tend to use the word ‘appreciation’ or ‘appreciate’ in place of the more commonly used ‘gratitude’ or ‘grateful’.
My reason for choosing appreciation is not simply one of semantics.
It has more to do with energy. There are subtle forces at play in any words we choose, as well as the emotion and feeling we associate with Continue…

Rhema Marvanne Voraritskul sings gospel to glorify God. What’s so special about that in the world of gospel singers?
Plenty.
First of all, there’s Rhema herself. She’s seven years old and her music has the potential to touch the soul deeply. Sometimes angels in embodiment have come simply to remind us how to let go, and let their sound heal us.
Watch and listen to Rhema sing Amazing Grace (a chipelo) and prepare to open your heart Continue…

Thrilling to life’s elixir of appreciation
I appreciate you. I appreciate the many people and experiences I meet and share. I appreciate the things that facilitate these blessings. There are too many to list here, many are too personal to share publicly.
And I am open to miracles even in the mundane experiences of life.
I appreciate how Mind heals
The test came recently when my computer hardware failed and I was told by online techs who tried to help me that I ‘lost’ all the data. Not only the data on my computer hard drive but also that on my external back up drive.
But I never gave up hope. I didn’t lose one wink of sleep over this. Even though Continue…

December 31st, 2009
2009 has been a year of mixed blessings and joys. And certainly filled with its share of interesting experiences.
The same can be said about the first decade of the new millennium. Everyone’s saying, and it does seem true, how the last decade has passed swiftly. And how it has concluded with more than its expected share of changes.
I’d love to hear what your thoughts are or at least how you are processing them. I’m sure you also reflect on this, on where you’ve been and where you’ve come now that we are at the end of the first decade of the new millennium.
What are your dreams?
How do you view the year and decade past? What are your hopes and dreams for the year ahead?
I know I’ve changed over this decade in more ways than I even Continue…
